Acid Reflux and Alkaline Water Is There A Connection

Acid Reflux: What is it?

Acid Reflux is a voluntary response from our body when it is suffering from acidosis. With the stomach full of excess acid, after digesting as best it could the food passing through, a regurgitation occurs and the excess acids erupts upward into the esophagus. This acid is caustic, it ‘burns’ the tissue, and we suffer heart burn, indigestion, sour stomach, or any other word we may come up with to describe this unruly condition.

Why do we get Acid Reflux?

Excess acid production in our stomach due to massive amounts of processed food types, not enough proper food types, too much coffee and/or soft drinks, all these and more creates in our bodies a predominately acidic environment. After years of this activity, the valve, which is designed as a one way valve, can weaken and erode to a point where it doesn’t fully close. At that point in time, your stomach remains open to the esophagus, and the condition becomes continuous, regardless of what one eats, how much or how little one eats, or what time of day or night it may be when one eats.

How do we treat it? OR, How do we get rid of it?

The pharmaceutical industry has developed numerous pills that attempt to ‘treat’ Acid Reflux. However, the truth of the matter is, they simply mask the symptoms, and never truly address the problem. Weather they be prescription, or over the counter, the results are all just about the same. Then there are liquids that attempt to soothe the burn. These can provide temporary relief from the symptoms, but if the behavior continues, you can be assured that the symptoms will return.

Alkaline water: Can it help?

When we’re born, our bodies are approximately 70% -80% water by weight, and about 7.0 pH neutral. As we age, for a vast majority of us, our bodies tend to become dehydrated, and our body fluid becomes more acidic. This is known as acidosis. Unfortunately, our body needs to have a 7.365 pH to function at an optimum level. We can reach and maintain this level through proper diet. However most of us either cannot, or will not, do what it takes to obtain these levels through diet alone.

Enter Alkaline Antioxidant drinking water. Since we have to drink water for hydration anyway, why not address the acid problem at the same time? Drinking 8.5 to 9.5 pH Alkaline water on a daily basis can return your body fluid to a level on the alkaline side of the pH scale. In so doing, it can reduce the acid levels in your stomach, which can greatly reduce your symptoms of Acid Reflux. In many cases, such as my own, the Acid Reflux can disappear completely. No more pills, no more fluids, no more sitting up and sleeping in your recliner, just to keep the acid from rising back up into your throat.

Is there a connection?

If we look at professionals who evaluate the myriad problems in our bodies that can be directly, or indirectly, associated with acidosis, the connection is obvious. When we listen to personal testimonials of people who have decided to make the change, the results are telling. Weight loss, detoxification, regularity, and of course Acid Reflux, can be dramatically improved, and very well may be eliminated, by introducing Alkaline water into your daily lifestyle.
